Information about the distribution of genetically modified Ciona intestinalis from NBRP

The transgenic lines and mutants of Ciona intestinalis are produced in Shimoda Marine Research Center, University of Tsukuba, under the support of NBRP, Japan. Transfer of these genetically modified lines has to be conducted under the guidelines of cartagena's case. Because of this condition, the information has to be provided by recipients about (1) the agreement with the rules for the transfer of genetically modified organisms (GMO) in their own country, and (2) the permission from university or government to use the transgenic Ciona intestinalis. Without these presentations, we do not transfer GMO. Shimoda Marine Research Center will not have any responsibility about the troubles in the usage of provided lines.

On your request, please give an e-mail to Yasunori Sasakura () with above information on GMO transfer. Please include details about the transfer, including name of the line requested, number of animals, stages, and desired date of transfer. Basically, we provide adult animals at the reproductive stage, juveniles, or dry sperm. We can also provide animals at the larval stage. If no adults of requested lines are available, the transfer will be postponed.

If you write a manuscript or presentation using the lines provided, please acknowledge to:
