About Ciona Intestinalis Transgenic line RESources

Ciona intestinalis is a kind of marine invertebrate chordate, ascidians. Ciona is a good material to perform genetic analyses, as the generation time of Ciona is approximately 2-3 months and inland culturing system is feasible. Our research group has established the experimental system for germline transgenesis in Ciona with a Tc1/mariner superfamily transposon Minos. By utilizing the Minos system, splendid genetic techniques such as creation of marker transgenic lines, enhancer trappings and insertional mutagenesis have been introduced in Ciona. The transgenic lines created by the Minos system are useful for Ciona researches to investigate gene functions. Our resource project aims at providing the ascidian research community with these useful transgenic lines.
